Contract Awarded for Kwajalein Cable System (KCS)

Army Invention Saves Severely Injured Soldiers' Lives
FORT SAM HOUSTON, Texas -- A new lifesaving standard of care has garnered the Institute of Surgical Research here a prestigious Army title – invention of the year. The innovation, called Damage Control Resuscitation of Severely Injured Soldiers, was named one of the Army’s “Top Ten Greatest Inventions of 2007.”

Army's Greatest Inventions of 2007 Recognized
The Army’s Top Ten Greatest Inventions for 2007 were recognized in a luncheon ceremony today in Arlington, Va. Currently in its sixth year, the program chooses winners based on their impact on Army capabilities, inventiveness and potential benefits outside the Army.

Future Combat Systems Showcased on National Mall
Prototype 1 of the Non-Line of Sight Cannon was unveiled June 11 on the National Mall, Washington, D.C. A total of eight such prototypes will eventually be delivered to Yuma Proving Grounds, Ariz., by 2010. The NLOS-C, part of Future Combat Systems, is part of the Army's modernization program. The NLOS-C was one of several pieces of FCS hardware on display at the Mall. Also on display were the Class I and Class IV unmanned aerial vehicles, the Multifunctional Utility/Logistics and Equipment vehicle, the Small Unmanned Ground Vehicle and several Tactical Unattended Ground Sensors. Visitors to the FCS open house at the Mall included Senator Jim Inhofe (Okla.), Secretary of the Army Pete Geren, and Chief of Staff of the Army Gen. George W. Casey Jr.

Night Vision Helmet Brackets
The U.S. Army Materiel Command highlights Tobyhanna Army Depot's large-scale manufacturing of helmet brackets for the night vision mount assembly. The depot improved the product by making it nearly four times stronger than the current bracket and with the help of Lean Six Sigma, is now making the bracket in under four minutes per part.
